2023 Senior Awards
The 2023 Garfield County Senior Awards celebration took place on April 22 at the Rifle Senior Center. Ginnie Miller was named Senior of the Year; High County Volunteers earned Friend of the Seniors honors; and Leonard and Cora Pipkins took home the Senior Couple of the Year award.
Meals & nutrition
This program is provided through cooperative efforts of the Garfield County Department of Human Services, the City of Rifle, The NW Colorado Area Agency on Aging, Town of New Castle, Town of Parachute, Town of Silt, Town of Carbondale, RFTA, City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado Mountain College, donations and client contributions.

Well & Wise
The Well and Wise Program is a collaboration between Eagle, Garfield and Pitkin counties and the Consortium for Older Adult Wellness (COAW). Through our partnership with COAW, eight instructors have been trained to bring community-based chronic disease self-management (CDSMP) and fall prevention classes to adults aged 55 and older in Garfield County. Classes offered include Matter of Balance, N’ Balance, Tai Chi for Arthritis, Cooking Matters and Geri-Fit.
Transportation
The Traveler provides accessible transportation for persons with an assessed inability to access any other Transportation modes that exist in the designated service areas of Garfield County. The Traveler, which is managed and provided by the Roaring Fork transportation Authority (RFTA), offers wheelchair accessible, curb-to-curb, demand responsive, driver-assisted transportation to Garfield County residents. The RFTA senior and disability services can be found on the paratransit website.

RFTA/City of Glenwood Springs and Town of Carbondale ADA Paratransit Service
Roaring Fork Transit Authority (RFTA) and the City of Glenwood Springs are providing
complementary paratransit service for passengers with disabilities to individuals that reside within 3/4 of a mile of the “Ride Glenwood” or “The Circulator” fixed-route bus service within Glenwood Springs and within Carbondale. More information can be found on the paratransit website.
